Hydraulic Tilt Transporters
The Bateson range of hydraulic tilt vehicle transporters have proved very popular and successful for many years. The range comprises of three models (22-15, 27-16 and 35-16), all of which have a full floor panelled with 18mm phenol ply which tilts back hydraulically to provide a low approach angle, enabling vehicles with front spoilers and low ground clearance to be loaded with ease.

The chassis is hot dipped galvanised with integral mudguards, which are strong enough to stand on and low enough to open car doors over. The body is tilted by means of a hydraulic cylinder and hand pump and can be lowered at a controlled rate. Standard equipment includes full width axles with independent rubber suspension, auto-reversing over-run brakes, full road lights, front jockey wheel, spare wheel, hand winch, adjustable wheel chock and 12 load securing points. A hitch lock, load securing straps and a 12V electric winch are also available as optional extras.

Auto Tilt Transporters
Bateson Auto Tilt trailers have been designed to transport many types of vehicle and machinery. The low platform and shallow approach angle allow equipment with a minimum ground clearance or long overhang to be loaded easily. They are available in two types: the GT models which are low loading general purpose trailers, sutiable for all types of horticultural and construction equipment, and the AT range which are platform trailers suitable for machines and vehicles weighing up to 2 tonnes.

Bateson have patented the principal of extending the deck rearwards by means of locking the tailboard horizontally; this extends the platform and allows the body to balance over the pivot point at the rear axle. The body can then be tilted to allow the load to be driven or winched on, then the body will return to the normal position. If the valve is closed on the pump, the body will remain raised if several pieces of equipment are being loaded. When the valve is released, the body will return to the horizontal position. When unloading the body is released and the tailboard lowered, the load can then be moved backwards when the body will tilt, hydraulically damped, and the load driven off. If the load is not self-propelled, the body can be raised with the manual pump for unloading.
